Day 5 - A Walk to local Pottery Shops

From the Hotel, the group will walk about 300 meters to a robin’s egg blue building perched overlooking the Lake.  Located in the same village as the hotel is the retirement home/work-shop/taller of Ken Edwards, world famous sculpture, designer and potter – try GOOGLING Ken Edwards pottery for a hint of what is to come.  At 86 years of age, there is not much that Ken hasn’t seen or tried, and you will be entertained with his stories about pottery, doing business in Latin America, and the state of the world in general.   Ken is fairly agile of mind and heart, and still creating world class works of art. There will be local craftsmen creating enchanting pieces of various styles and purpose; perhaps you will try your hand with the clay. [You can see some of Ken’s creations at the Hotel, one of which recently won an international competition.  You even might be tempted to order a personal set of his dinnerware as many before you have done.
For those of you who are not into arts and crafts, you can refer to the list of the day’s available alternative activities that is posted in the reception area.
A light Lunch buffet will be served at 1:00 PM, followed by unscheduled time. It might be a good time to acquaint yourself with San Antonio Palopo and the many fine weavers and artisans for which the village is so well known.  Guides are available for your assistance.

Dinner will be served at 7:00 PM
Night life time in Panajachel is again available.
