Lake Atitlan (Lago Atitlán) is located in the Guatemalan highlands and is famous for its natural beauty and colorful Mayan villages. The lake is one of Guatemala's top tourist destinations and most visitors agree with Aldous Huxley, who called it "the most beautiful lake in the world".
Climate / Temperature
Guatemala and especially Lake Atitlan has very good weather all year round, which is why it is often called "The Land of Eternal Spring". Two seasons, namely, the dry season (from mid November thru April) and the wet season (from May to mid October) can be distinguished. Highland Guatemala is blessed with one of the world's best climates. At Lake Atitlan which is about 1,600 meters (almost 5000 feet) above sea level, the air is almost always fresh and the nights refreshingly cool. Days are warm and sunny and humidity is low. Lake Atitlan is eternal spring at its best!
